VICARA – THE CERNE CARAFE
Cerne, designed by Samuel Reis for Vicara, is a carafe made of blown glass, moulded from the hollow core of a carob tree.
The hollow, no longer participating in the active conduction of water in the tree, is eventually likely to result in the tree’s destruction.
Samuel Reis uses this void to create a new object and therefore the shapes of each Cerne are at Nature’s will.
